Minot Mighty Mallard Clubspiel
Event Concluded for 2024
Come join us for the inaugural Minot Mallard Clubspiel!
This event is a great way to kick off your season at the Minot Curling Club and a chance to curl with and against club members you might not normally get a chance to. This is a Ryder Cup inspired bonspiel similar to the Continental Cup.
Event coordinators will be assigning participants to leagues and teams for each matchup so everyone should register individually.
If reading the below scoring and match up details sounds confusing and not something you’re up for, well good news! The event coordinators will handle everything except throwing and sweeping the rocks for you, so sign up and come curl!
When: December 6th, first draw 6pm tentatively. Event will resume December 7th with a 10am draw and conclude in the afternoon.
Who: Minot Curling Club members and friends
Cost: $20 per person, includes lunch Saturday and Friday night entertainment
Format: Individuals register to compete individually and leagues are made immediately before the competition begins based on age. Participants will be divided up into “Ducklings” and “Quackers” groups. The competition will consist of participants playing 3 games, each with assigned teammates and opponents. Teams will be comprised of other players in the same league, while opponents will be players from the other, and players should (if numbers allow) be new groups of players and opponents each game.
Rounds:
- Straight up: Traditional game and scoring, consisting of 8 ends
- Doubles: Doubles game and traditional scoring consisting of 8 ends, power play will not be observed, other doubles rules and throwing order will be.
- Skins: Traditional game with modified scoring, consisting of 8 ends. For the team to win a “skin” the team with hammer must score 2 OR MORE, and the defending (non-hammer) team must steal 1 OR MORE. The hammer team scoring 1 point or a blank will push the skin to the next end. Skins will add until an end is won, and the team that won the end will get all of the points accumulated in that run. If the last end is pushed a skips draw will take place for the skin points accumulated. Winner of the game is the team with the most skins, not necessarily the highest score.
League Scoring: After each matchup, teams will report their games outcome and scores. For a win a team will receive 10 points for their league. Each round will have a league point scoring opportunity based on the winning and losing teams points scored in game. Round 1 (traditional) the teams will receive a point for their league for each point they scored in the match (no points for ends won, ONLY point totals). Round 2 (doubles) is the same as round 1 where teams will score 1 point for each point they scored in the match. Round 3 (skins) teams will score 2 points for each skin they won (points do not score, only skins).
