Minot Curling Club Leagues

General information for Minot Curling Club (MCC)

If you are interested in joining a league and don’t know where to start, I suggest reaching out over facebook, phone, or email and contacting us with your specifics. Typically leagues start in the fall and run through March. If you are by yourself, with a partner, or have a whole team we can almost always get you setup to join the MCC if you contact us during registration period.

MCC does not have dedicated nights for certain leagues. We all curl open leagues with regard to gender and age* (We do allow minors to curl but we ask that they be of sufficient maturity/skill to not hinder play). There is curling Monday, Wednesday, and Fridays currently. The MCC will at its discretion setup 2 different leagues on the same night to keep the skill levels competitive and everybody having fun. Depending on league size there are 2 draws, a 6:30pm and 8:00pm. If its a smaller league there is only the 6:30 draw, if larger then you’ll have mixed draws depending on the night at either 6:30 or 8:00. At the end of the year there is playoffs for each league, and then a city championship from the individual league champions. League nights are capped at 22 teams, preference will be given to teams from the previous year. Each night has a dedicated League Manager who can assist with any questions you may have.

Military Leagues will be set up pending board approval after January 1st and will take place on Tuesdays.

The MCC operates under United States Curling Association (USCA). Here is a quote from the UCSA Rules Handbook titled “The Spirit of Curling”:

Curling is a game of skill and tradition. A shot well executed is a delight
to see and it is also a fine thing to observe the time-honored traditions
of curling being applied in the true spirit of the game. Curlers play to
win, but never to humble their opponents. A true curler never
attempts to distract opponents, nor to prevent them from playing
their best, and would prefer to lose rather than to win unfairly.
Curlers never knowingly break a rule of the game, nor disrespect any
of its traditions. Should they become aware that this has been done
inadvertently, they will be the first to divulge the breach.
While the main object of the game of curling is to determine the
relative skill of the players, the spirit of curling demands good
sportsmanship, kindly feeling and honorable conduct.
This spirit should influence both the interpretation and the application
of the rules of the game and also the conduct of all participants on and
off the ice.

Please use that principle first and foremost when approaching applying the rules and etiquette while at the MCC.

Dues

Please pay your dues when you fill out your individual registration. Preferred method is through our online store. We do accept cash or check, speak with your league manager immediately if you wish to do this. Any dues not paid prior to January 15th will result in a team forfeit until all team members have paid.

The dues structure can be found on our Online Store which can be accessed through the Member Registration tab. For 2021-22 we did have to make the USCA option mandatory due to insurance requirements. This is already included in your fees.

Lockers are optional and limited and we highly recommend you share between spouse/family/team members.
